Thoroughly clean out the sole of the foot using a hoof pick, sole knife and or wire brush if necessary. Magic Cushion Hoof Packing should come into direct contact with the sole of the foot. Use a sufficient enough amount of Magic Cushion Hoof Packing to cover the sole of the foot to a depth of approximately 5 mm. Do not overpack the foot. Once packed cover the sole of the foot with an appropriate material such as a cut out hoof pad, corflute pad, cardboard, or other material so as to keep the Magic Cushion Hoof Packing in place. Then wrap the foot as per a normal poultice. Duct tape is an excellent cost affective way to finish wrapping a foot . It is important to place cotton wool or similar product at the rear of the foot to prevent the packing from escaping at the heels or bulbs. Contact with the bulbs of the heel and coronary band should be avoided. Any excess product may be cleaned up with acetone or baby oil. Recommended Application period is for twenty four (24) hours repeating as required.
Step 1
Ensure the sole of the foot is clean. Take a sufficient amount of Magic Cushion Hoof Packing so as to cover the sole of the foot . Do not over pack the foot. Too little is better than too much. If dispensing from a one or two litre container then disposable gloves should be worn as the product is very sticky. Gloves are not usually required if you are dispensing from the single applications.
Step 2
Cover the sole of the foot with a pad, corflute or other material (product packaging may be used) so as to keep the Magic Cushion Hoof Packing in place. Secure in place with one or two wraps of Vet Wrap or Elastoplast
Step 3
Complete wrapping the foot with Duct Tape or Elastoplast placing cotton wool or other material at the heels/bulbs so as to prevent the Magic Cushion Hoof Packing from escaping at the rear of the foot. Contact with the hair line or coronary band should be avoided. The application of Vaseline to the bulb and heel area can assist in preventing contact with those areas.
iF CONDITION FAILS TO IMPROVE AFTER 72 HOURS THEN VETERINARY ADVICE SHOULD BE SOUGHT..
